May suit
- You want to compare borrowing costs without an annual fee.
- You have other travel cover and do not need black’s shop discounts.
What to watch for
- Cash accrues interest from day one despite no bank withdrawal fee.
- Currency markup is 2%.
- A lower nominal rate is not a personal offer or a guarantee of cheap borrowing.
What the lower rate means
The nominal purchase rate is 18.5%. The full representative example uses NOK 15,000 over 12 months with effective interest of 20.15%. Compare nominal rates under equivalent assumptions and read effective interest alongside the entire example. Different card examples use different amounts. The card is not interest-free if you spread repayment beyond the interest-free conditions.
No withdrawal fee still leaves interest
Gold has no bank ATM withdrawal fee, but cash starts accruing interest on day one. An ATM owner may charge separately and foreign currency attracts a 2% markup. Up to 45 interest-free days applies to qualifying purchases with full payment by the due date. Separate purchases, cash and other transactions when assessing what your own use would cost.
Gold versus black and who can apply
Gold does not provide the travel insurance or shop discount scheme associated with black. Applicants must be at least 18, have regular income and no payment remarks. The bank assesses the application individually. D-number acceptance and minimum residence duration remain unconfirmed. Ask directly if you recently moved to Norway or cannot use the usual application identification route.
