Check full payment and the due date

On a card with a conditional interest-free purchase period, paying the eligible bill in full by the deadline can avoid purchase interest. Paying only the minimum leaves a balance to repay and can incur interest. The exact amount and treatment depend on your issuer; Instabank has no interest-free purchase period.

Make an affordable plan

List what you owe, to whom, and which payments are due. Use your actual income and essential expenses to assess what you can repay. If the bill is unaffordable, contact the issuer early about a payment arrangement and ask for written confirmation. A new credit card does not itself solve an existing debt problem.
