About SmartMoney
SmartMoney is an independent comparison guide that helps people in Norway, including newcomers, understand loans, credit cards, bank accounts, mobile plans and money transfers.
Helping you make the best choice
Money decisions in Norway are easier when the costs, the requirements and the next step are explained in plain language. SmartMoney collects published prices and terms from the providers themselves and presents them side by side, so you can compare before you apply.
We write for everyone who lives in Norway, and especially for people who are new here. That is why the guides are available in eight languages: Norwegian, English, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Lithuanian, Arabic and Somali.
What we do
We compare consumer loans, refinancing, credit cards, bank accounts, mobile subscriptions, electricity, broadband and money transfer services. For every product we show the facts that matter: the effective interest rate, fees, representative examples, BankID and D-number requirements and where the information comes from.
Every comparison links to the provider, where you see the final offer and sign the agreement.
What we are not
SmartMoney is not a bank, lender, loan broker, insurer or financial adviser. We do not make credit decisions, we do not receive applications and we do not hold customer money. The information on the site is general and is not personal financial advice.
How we earn money
Some links on SmartMoney are advertising links. If you click such a link and become a customer, the provider may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra. Advertising links are marked “Ad”. Providers we have a commercial agreement with may be shown more prominently, but they cannot change the facts, prices or examples we publish. Read more in our advertising disclosure.
How we check information
We use the providers’ own websites, price lists and terms, and public sources such as Finanstilsynet, Skatteetaten and Forbrukerrådet. Each page shows when it was last updated, and the sources are listed on the page. Prices change, so always check the final offer with the provider before you sign. If you find an error, tell us and we will correct it.
